art (parasocial 2)

Whitewood (who is a skeleton with a bird's skull) wearing a medical mask and surgeon's gown, stands over White as they lie on a gurney. White is covered with a surgical drape. A hole is cut in the middle with some red, chunky gore visible through it. Whitewood snaps on a pair of nitrile gloves. He leans over White's chest and says, ''Ah... This is what I was looking for.'' White's heart is on display, tucked neatly inside a little nest of meat and bones. Using a pair of pliers, Whitewood plucks White's heart from their chest, the viscera squelching as it's torn away. White shucks off his surgeon's gown, and opens his empty, skeletal chest. He places the heart gently inside. White looks up at him from the gurney, their eyes ringed with tiredness. They say, ''Are you happy now?'' Expressionless, Whitewood looks over at them as he closes and fixes his gown. He says, ''I'm just getting started.''

this wasn't meant to be kind of horror-evoking. but it sorta is, huh? well anyway. i was lying in bed and this sequence entered my mind. there's an alternate version i didn't draw where whitewood eats white's heart. white says the same thing, "are you happy now?" and whitewood says, "i don't know what you're asking. everyone has to eat to live." but i felt that it didn't quite convey the emotion i was having, so i drew this version instead. actually, i now wish i hadn't because maybe this isn't quite the vibe i was going for. i don't know. i guess it doesn't matter.

this was kind of a sequel to this.

also i guess i should say that i'm going to try to add alt text to images from now on. writing alt text is taxing on my brain because it is literally just the creative writing version of the art i'm making; essentially it's me making a whole new separate piece of written art to go along with my visual art. however, i think it's good practice to do this, and it's an accessibility feature for those who may need it. i think that both of these factors make it worth doing.

also, also, i only just realized i can simply set image width to "100%" so that the comic pages fit inside the layout of the page no matter what screen you're using.
